Allegiant Reverse Spearheads Support for Fire-Affected Seniors in CA

A prominent reverse mortgage vendor based just outside of Sacramento is mobilizing support for seniors affected by the fires currently afflicting Northern California, and is calling on the wider community of the reverse mortgage industry to lend their support to mitigate its effects on the vulnerable senior population in the Butte County region.

Allegiant Reverse Services (ARS) composed an email message sent through NRMLA to its member network, asking for contributions in the spirit of the industry’s goal of “helping seniors by aging in place and improving their lives by helping to provide financial security.” To that end, ARS has partnered with the local Paradise Alliance Church – located in the heart of one of the most affected areas of the fires – because of their focus on the senior community in the area.

“We have seen firsthand the generosity and community spirit of the reverse mortgage industry and we’re asking for you to join us in helping the senior population in Butte County,” said Megan Hafenstein, VP of ARS, in the message. “[Paradise Alliance Church is] a part of the 5% of the structures that survived the fire that wiped out the the town of Paradise. Their church will be used as a hub for the rebuilding efforts and they need help,” she said.

Hafenstein also added that the church is working directly with more than 600 members who are seniors to assess their needs, and that they will be in a far better position to help with contributions from NRMLA members. They are also directing money accumulated from contributions to help pay for lodging seniors who have lost their homes.

Those who wish to donate to the effort may visit the designated GoFundMe account and make contributions there. Hafenstein concluded ARS’ appeal by saying, “our hearts go out to all affected by this disaster and we thank you in advance for your generosity.”
