NRMLA to Include Consumer Focus in Reverse Mortgage Education Week

The National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association will host a pair of consumer-focused webinars as part of its annual education outreach, including a session focused on paying for in-home care.

The Washington, D.C.-based industry trade group will team up with Next Avenue, PBS’s senior-focused news website, to host a Q&A on home equity and aging in place on April 24. Speakers are set to include Dan Hultquist, co-chair of NRMLA’s education committee and prolific author on the subject of Home Equity Conversion Mortgages, and Amy Ford of the National Council on Aging.

The following day, NRMLA education committee member Patty Wills will  join representatives from the Long Island Aging in Place Council and Square Care — a Westbury, N.Y.-based primary care network — to discuss how older people and their families can pay for long-term care.

HECMs have long been promoted as a way for seniors to cover the costs of aging in place, and the management team behind NRMLA also operates the National Aging in Place Council.

The webinars come during NRMLA’s annual Reverse Mortgage Education Week, which will also include sessions about reverse mortgage servicing, using HECMs as liquidity tools in retirement, and the HECM for Purchase program.
