CFPB Leadership for Older Americans Moves from Federal to State Focus

Among several personnel changes to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau leadership announced Monday, the CFPB’s lead for its Office of Older Americans Skip Humphrey will transition from a federal oversight role to more of a state-centric focus.

“Hubert “Skip” Humphrey will transition from his role as Assistant Director in the Office of Older Americans to remain with the Bureau as a Senior Liaison Officer,” the CFPB announced Mondays. “As Senior Liaison he will focus in particular on expanding the Office’s efforts to build strong working relationships with state, local, public and private organizations and continue to highlight the work of the Older Americans office and the Bureau.”

Humphrey has led the office since 2011, upon its launch. Humphrey has overseen several senior protection initiatives including an industry report of reverse mortgages and most recently, a report of senior professional designations.

The bureau also announced today the appointment of Dan Smith to serve as the first Assistant Director for the newly-created Office of Financial Institutions and Business Liaison; and Catherine Galicia to serve as the new Assistant Director for Legislative Affairs.
