The best places for baby boomer to retire aren’t necessarily ones with sun-bleached beaches, but rather locations where the cost of living trumps all, according to an analysis from NerdWallet.
Keeping low cost setting in mind, NerdWallet crunched the numbers to find the best places for boomers to retire.
Affordability was the primary factor in NerdWallet’s research, along with healthcare accessibility, opportunities for social engagement and proximity to public transportation.
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania topped the list, as over a quarter of the city’s population is between the ages of 50 and 70 and health providers are highly accessible with a proportion of 415 physicians per 100,000 residents.
The city also provides numerous learning institutions for those who want to continue their educations, ranging subjects from architecture to religion. A nearby cultural district also showcases theater, music and art.
