At last week’s 15th Annual Reverse Mortgage Day conference in Austin, Texas, the industry honored Reverse Market Insight Founder and President John Lunde with the Jim Mahoney Distinguished Service Award.
“This award is given to an individual who has given more to the industry than they receive,” said Scott Norman, national field retail sales vice president for Urban Financial of America, and also organizer of the annual Texas event. “In his many years of distinguished service to the reverse mortgage industry, John has exemplified this.”
Prior to founding RMI in 2007, Lunde led the Business Metrics & Analysis team at Financial Freedom to deliver comprehensive ongoing internal performance analysis across all lines of business in the company, including marketing, sales, operations and servicing.
At RMI, Lunde leads business development efforts for the company, including client engagements and industry partnerships. He also assists in product development for the company, drawing on his deep experience in the reverse mortgage industry and extensive relationships with leaders at top lenders, servicers and investors in the space, Norman said.
The Jim Mahoney Distinguished Service Award is granted annually to the individual who has contributed significant work to the reverse mortgage industry. Past recipients of the award include Joe Demarkey, Jim Milano and Peter Bell.
“It was an honor to receive the award this year and I’m grateful to have had so many opportunities to work with folks throughout the industry,” Lunde told RMD. “The previous recipients include some of the people I’ve looked up to for many years and I can’t imagine being thought of in the same breath.”
The Reverse Mortgage Day event brings together reverse mortgage lenders, secondary market experts, real estate attorneys and bank executives from across the U.S. to discuss the policies that will affect reverse mortgage lending in the future. The 15th annual gathering arrived following the 60,000th reverse mortgage issued in the State of Texas.
