Generation Grows Retail Sales with Three New Branch Hires

Generation Mortgage Company today announced three new additions to its reverse mortgage retail branches in the company’s Eastern and Pacific regions.

Lance Canada, Greg McDermott and Jim Becker have joined the company’s sales team as retail branch managers, with Canada and McDermott overseeing loan offices in the company’s eastern region and Becker focused on leading the company’s western loan offices in Idaho, Washington and Oregon.

Canada’s duties will include managing Generation’s North Carolina sales team, with McDermott managing an area that includes New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland.

Each of the company’s new hires brings with them years of reverse mortgage experience in various roles with lenders like Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and MetLife Home Loans, with Canada being only one of 70 people to attain the Certified Reverse Mortgage Professional designation from the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association.

Generation believes its new hires’ leadership experience will help to further develop the company’s retail segment.

“Generation Mortgage is currently experiencing unprecedented growth within our retail sales organization,” said Generation Chief Sales Officer Cheryl MacNally. “Our goal is to recruit the top sales talent in the HECM industry, and the addition of Lance, Greg and Jim to our team is evidence of our success in this arena.”

  • Yet recent endorsement reports do not bear out any significant growth at Generation. While overall industry endorsements grew by 9.6%, Generation went from 2,870 endorsements for fiscal 2012 to 2,885 for fiscal 2013 per the September 2013 endorsement report. That is a growth rate of just one-half of one percent.

Generation has seemed to have plateaued. Perhaps these three men will turn that around.
