Reverse Mortgage Changes Gaining Support, Mortgage Prof. Launches Business

In this week’s Reverse Focus podcast, two consumer advocacy groups urge the Department of Housing and Urban Development to consider a “more comprehensive package of protections” for reverse mortgage borrowers.

Reverse Focus’s Shannon Hicks also talks about a new effort by Jack Guttentag, better known as the Mortgage Professor, to get into the reverse mortgage business by serving as a lead reseller. By using the Professor’s new calculator, borrowers can compare different reverse mortgage products by lender.

Getting a reverse mortgage today will better benefit borrowers and can be an insurance policy of its own, according to Guttentag. Unused line of credits and growths in principal limit will help borrowers find comfort in their retirements.
