Concierge Care, Inc., a company that provides referral services for the senior care industry, is helping financially underserved seniors find housing through a new volunteer program.
The “Concierge Care Samaritans” program, which represents more than 10% of the company’s weekly efforts, is an initiative four years in the making that provides pro bono work for seniors and their families lacking the financial resources and other assets that may proven them from accessing high-quality care and housing.
Operating predominantly in the Northwest, the company negotiates housing in pre-qualified communities where families may have been told they do not qualify.
“These situations do not always materialize, but you’d be surprised how often we are successful on behalf of those less fortunate,” stated Terri Wilson, director of transitional services for Concierge Care Advisors, in a release. “Being able to facilitate a solution that works for both parties is very rewarding.”
In 2011, the Samaritans program helped one client find specialized care for her mother who had only 30-days notice to find a senior care facility. Concierge Care Advisors was able to pull some strings through its longstanding relationships with several communities to find the client’s mother the care she needed.
To date, the program has helped hundreds of seniors with limited resources since the program’s inception in 2010, stated Kecia Lilly, senior vice president of corporate development.
“This program was started by our advisors as a result of the founders agreeing with them that we cannot turn families away,” stated Lilly. “Now that we have formalized this program, we challenge every organization working with seniors to join us. This is a time in a senior’s life to get it right the first time when selecting care and housing and we are proud to do our part.”
